यदि डॉ. अंबेडकर आज भारत में होते तो क्या वे सुरक्षित बचते?

 

अगर हम डॉ. बीआर अंबेडकर की जयंती पर आरएसएस-बीजेपी शासकों द्वारा उनके महिमामंडन पर भरोसा करें, तो ऐसा लगेगा कि उनके जितने वफादार अनुयायी कभी नहीं रहे। पीएम मोदी के अनुसार वे ‘भारत के संविधान के निर्माता’ और ‘अनुसूचित जातियों के मसीहा’ थे। यूपी सरकार ने 13 अप्रैल (2025) की सुबह से कई कार्यक्रमों के साथ ‘अंबेडकर जयंती’ के भव्य समारोह की घोषणा की है, जो 14 अप्रैल को लखनऊ में मुख्य समारोह तक चलेगा, जिसमें हिंदुत्व के प्रतीक सीएम आदित्यनाथ शामिल होंगे। इन कार्यक्रमों का उद्देश्य “युवा पीढ़ी को डॉ. अंबेडकर के उल्लेखनीय जीवन, दूरदर्शी नेतृत्व और न्याय, समानता और सामाजिक सुधार के प्रति उनकी अटूट प्रतिबद्धता से परिचित कराना है।”

डॉ. अंबेडकर को भरपूर प्रशंसा मिल रही है, जब वे जीवित नहीं हैं। जब वे जीवित थे, तब आरएसएस और उसके हुमजोलियों, जिनमें वीडी सावरकर के नेतृत्व वाली हिंदू महासभा भी शामिल थी, ने उन्हें बदनाम करने का कोई मौका नहीं छोड़ा, अक्सर उनके पुतले जलाए जाते थे। अगर डॉ. अंबेडकर आज देश में मौजूद होते, जब भारत में भाजपा-आरएसएस के कार्यकर्ताओं का शासन है, तो यह तय है कि उन्हें जातिवाद, शूद्रों, महिलाओं के अपमान, उच्च जाति के वर्चस्व और हिंदुत्व का विरोध करने के लिए आतंकवाद कानूनों के तहत जेल में डाल दिया गया होता या जान गांवनी पड़ती।

क्या इस सब के बावजूद वे सुरक्षित रह पाते?

1.  डॉ. अंबेडकर ने मनुस्मृति को जलाने का समर्थन किया

आरएसएस चाहता है कि भारतीय संविधान की जगह मनुस्मृति या मनु संहिता या मनु के कानून लागू किए जाएं, जो शूद्रों, अछूतों और महिलाओं के लिए अपमानजनक और अमानवीय संदर्भों के लिए जाने जाते हैं। भारत की संविधान सभा ने 26 नवंबर, 1949 को भारत के संविधान को अंतिम रूप दिया, आरएसएस खुश नहीं था। इसके मुखपत्र ऑर्गनाइजर ने 30 नवंबर, 1949 को एक संपादकीय में शिकायत की:

"लेकिन हमारे संविधान में प्राचीन भारत में हुए अनूठे संवैधानिक विकास का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। मनु के कानून स्पार्टा के लाइकर्गस या फारस के सोलोन से बहुत पहले लिखे गए थे। आज भी मनुस्मृति में वर्णित उनके कानून दुनिया भर में प्रशंसा का विषय हैं और सहज आज्ञाकारिता और अनुरूपता को बढ़ावा देते हैं। लेकिन हमारे संवैधानिक पंडितों के लिए इसका कोई मतलब नहीं है।" 

स्वतंत्र भारत में मनु के कानूनों को लागू करने की मांग करके आरएसएस केवल अपने गुरु, दार्शनिक और मार्गदर्शक वीडी सावरकर का अनुसरण कर रहा था, जिन्होंने घोषणा की थी कि, 

"मनुस्मृति वह शास्त्र है जो हमारे हिंदू राष्ट्र के लिए वेदों के बाद सबसे अधिक पूजनीय है और जो प्राचीन काल से ही हमारी संस्कृति-रीति-रिवाजों, विचारों और व्यवहार का आधार बन गया है। सदियों से इस पुस्तक ने हमारे राष्ट्र की आध्यात्मिक और दैवीय यात्रा को संहिताबद्ध किया है। आज भी करोड़ों हिंदू अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में जिन नियमों का पालन करते हैं, वे मनुस्मृति पर आधारित हैं। आज मनुस्मृति हिंदू कानून है।"

यहां यह ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि 25 दिसंबर 1927 को ऐतिहासिक महाड़ आंदोलन के दौरान डॉ. अंबेडकर की उपस्थिति में विरोध स्वरूप मनुस्मृति की एक प्रति जलाई गई थी। उन्होंने प्रत्येक वर्ष 25 दिसंबर को मनुस्मृति जलाने का आह्वान भी किया था।

2.  डॉ. अंबेडकर ने हिंदुत्व की राजनीति को नियंत्रित करने वाले उच्च जाति के हिंदुओं को हिंदुओं के दयनीय जीवन और मुसलमानों के प्रति घृणा के लिए जिम्मेदार ठहराया। 

उन्होंने स्पष्ट रूप से कहा कि, 

"उच्च जाति के हिंदू नेता के रूप में बहुत बुरे हैं। उनके चरित्र में एक ऐसी विशेषता है जो अक्सर हिंदुओं को विनाश की ओर ले जाती है। यह विशेषता उनकी लालची प्रवृत्ति और दूसरों के साथ जीवन की अच्छी चीजों को साझा करने की अनिच्छा से बनती है। उनके पास शिक्षा और धन का एकाधिकार है, और धन और शिक्षा के साथ उन्होंने राज्य पर कब्जा कर लिया है। इस एकाधिकार को अपने पास रखना उनके जीवन की महत्वाकांक्षा और लक्ष्य रहा है। वर्ग वर्चस्व के इस स्वार्थी विचार से प्रेरित होकर, वे हिंदुओं के निम्न वर्गों को धन, शिक्षा और शक्ति से वंचित करने के लिए हर संभव कदम उठाते हैं। सबसे पक्का और सबसे प्रभावी तरीका है शास्त्रों की तैयारी, हिंदुओं के निम्न वर्गों के मन में यह शिक्षा डालना कि जीवन में उनका कर्तव्य केवल उच्च वर्गों की सेवा करना है। इस एकाधिकार को अपने हाथों में रखने और निम्न वर्गों को इसमें किसी भी हिस्से से बाहर रखने में, उच्च जाति के हिंदू लंबे समय तक  सफल रहे हैं… 

"यह रवैया। शिक्षा, धन और सत्ता को अपने पास ही रखना और उसे साझा करने से इनकार करना, जो उच्च जाति के हिंदुओं ने निम्न वर्ग के हिंदुओं के साथ अपने संबंधों में विकसित किया है, वे इसे मुसलमानों तक भी पहुंचाना चाहते हैं। वे मुसलमानों को स्थान और सत्ता से बाहर करना चाहते हैं, जैसा कि उन्होंने निम्न वर्ग के हिंदुओं के साथ किया है। उच्च जाति के हिंदुओं की यह विशेषता उनकी राजनीति को समझने की कुंजी है।"

3.  डॉ. अंबेडकर ने हिंदू धर्म त्याग दिया 

अंबेडकर ने बौद्ध धर्म अपनाने के एक दिन बाद 15 अक्टूबर 1956 को नागपुर में अपने ऐतिहासिक भाषण में कहा, 

“हिंदू धर्म छोड़ने का आंदोलन हमने 1935 में शुरू किया था, जब येओला में एक संकल्प लिया गया था। भले ही मैं हिंदू धर्म में पैदा हुआ हूं, लेकिन मैं हिंदू धर्म में नहीं मरूंगा। यह शपथ मैंने पहले ली थी; कल, मैंने इसे सच साबित कर दिया। मैं खुश हूं; मैं आनंदित हूं! मैंने नरक छोड़ दिया है - ऐसा मैं महसूस करता हूं। मुझे कोई अंध अनुयायी नहीं चाहिए। जो लोग बौद्ध धर्म में आते हैं, उन्हें समझ के साथ आना चाहिए; उन्हें सचेत रूप से उस धर्म को स्वीकार करना चाहिए।” 

4 . डॉ. अंबेडकर ने महिलाओं के समान अधिकारों के लिए लड़ाई लड़ी। 

आरएसएस के लिए हिंदू महिलाएं हर मामले में कमतर हैं। यह भारत के संविधान के रूप में मनुस्मृति को लागू करने की मांग करता है जो महिलाओं को चौंकाने वाला रूप से अपमानित करता है जैसा कि हम निम्नलिखित [दर्जनों में से कुछ] में देखेंगे: a. दिन-रात महिला को अपने (परिवार के) पुरुषों द्वारा आश्रित रखा जाना चाहिए, b. उसका पिता बचपन में उसकी रक्षा करता है, उसका पति जवानी में उसकी रक्षा करता है, और उसके बेटे बुढ़ापे में उसकी रक्षा करते हैं; एक महिला कभी भी स्वतंत्र होने के योग्य नहीं होती। c. महिलाएं सुंदरता की परवाह नहीं करती हैं, न ही उनका ध्यान उम्र पर केंद्रित होता है; (यह सोचकर), कि वह एक पुरुष है,' वे खुद को सुंदर और कुरूप के लिए समर्पित कर देती हैं। 

d. पुरुषों के प्रति अपनी वासना के कारण, अपने परिवर्तनशील स्वभाव के कारण, अपनी स्वाभाविक हृदयहीनता के कारण, वे अपने पतियों के प्रति विश्वासघाती हो जाती हैं, चाहे वे इस (संसार) में कितनी ही सावधानी से क्यों न रखी जाएँ। 

e.  (उनकी रचना करते समय) मनु ने स्त्रियों को (अपने) शय्या, (अपने) आसन और (आभूषणों) के प्रति प्रेम, अशुद्ध कामनाएँ, क्रोध, बेईमानी, द्वेष और बुरे आचरण की आदत डाल दी। 

इसके विपरीत, डॉ. अंबेडकर महिलाओं के लिए समानता में विश्वास करते थे। उनका स्पष्ट मानना ​​था कि, "हम जल्द ही अच्छे दिन देखेंगे और हमारी प्रगति बहुत तेज़ी से होगी अगर पुरुष शिक्षा को महिला शिक्षा के साथ-साथ बढ़ावा दिया जाए..." 

उन्होंने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि "मैं समुदाय की प्रगति को महिलाओं द्वारा हासिल की गई प्रगति की डिग्री से मापता हूँ ।" उन्होंने दलित महिलाओं को सलाह दी, "खुद को कभी अछूत मत समझो, साफ-सुथरा जीवन जियो। अगर तुम्हारे कपड़े पैच से भरे हैं तो कोई बात नहीं, लेकिन ध्यान रखो कि वे साफ हों। कोई भी तुम्हारे कपड़ों के चुनाव में तुम्हारी आज़ादी को सीमित नहीं कर सकता। आत्म-सहायता के मन और भावना को विकसित करने पर ज़्यादा ध्यान दो।" 

दलित परिवारों में शराब एक अभिशाप थी और इसे दूर करने के लिए उन्होंने महिलाओं से कहा "अगर तुम्हारे पति और बेटे शराबी हैं तो उन्हें किसी भी हालत में खाना मत खिलाओ। अपने बच्चों को स्कूल भेजो। शिक्षा महिलाओं के लिए उतनी ही ज़रूरी है जितनी पुरुषों के लिए। अगर तुम पढ़ना-लिखना जानती हो तो बहुत तरक्की होगी। तुम जैसी हो, वैसे ही तुम्हारे बच्चे भी होंगे।"

4.  डॉ. अंबेडकर हिंदू राष्ट्र के विचार से सहमत नहीं थे और हिंदुत्व की निंदा करते थे। 

स्वतंत्रता-पूर्व भारत में सांप्रदायिक राजनीति के गहन शोधकर्ता डॉ. अंबेडकर ने द्वि-राष्ट्र सिद्धांत के मुद्दे पर हिंदू महासभा और मुस्लिम लीग के बीच आत्मीयता और सौहार्द को रेखांकित करते हुए लिखा: "यह अजीब लग सकता है, श्री सावरकर और श्री जिन्ना एक राष्ट्र बनाम दो राष्ट्र के मुद्दे पर एक-दूसरे के विरोधी होने के बजाय इस पर पूरी तरह सहमत हैं। दोनों सहमत हैं, न केवल सहमत हैं बल्कि इस बात पर जोर देते हैं कि भारत में दो राष्ट्र हैं - एक मुस्लिम राष्ट्र और दूसरा हिंदू राष्ट्र।" उनके अनुसार, "हिंदुओं के लिए हिंदुस्तान का विचार न केवल अहंकारी है बल्कि पूरी तरह बकवास है।" 

उन्होंने चेतावनी देते हुए कहा कि, "यदि हिंदू राज सच हो जाता है, तो यह निस्संदेह इस देश के लिए सबसे बड़ी आपदा होगी... [यह] स्वतंत्रता, समानता और बंधुत्व के लिए खतरा है। इस कारण यह लोकतंत्र के साथ असंगत है। हिंदू राज को किसी भी कीमत पर रोका जाना चाहिए।"

5.  डॉ. अंबेडकर समाजवाद में विश्वास करते थे जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने 13 दिसंबर, 1946 को उद्देश्य प्रस्ताव पेश किया। डॉ. अंबेडकर की इस पर प्रतिक्रिया देने की बारी 17 दिसंबर 1946 को आई। उन्होंने कहा: 

"यदि इस प्रस्ताव के पीछे कोई वास्तविकता है और एक ईमानदारी है, जिसके बारे में मुझे जरा भी संदेह नहीं है, क्योंकि यह प्रस्ताव पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू से आ रहा है, तो मुझे कुछ ऐसे प्रावधान की उम्मीद करनी चाहिए थी जिससे राज्य के लिए आर्थिक, सामाजिक और राजनीतिक न्याय को वास्तविकता बनाना संभव हो सके और मुझे इस दृष्टिकोण से उम्मीद करनी चाहिए थी कि प्रस्ताव में सबसे स्पष्ट शब्दों में कहा जाएगा कि देश में सामाजिक और आर्थिक न्याय हो सके, उद्योग का राष्ट्रीयकरण और भूमि का राष्ट्रीयकरण होगा।  मुझे समझ में नहीं आता कि यह किसी भी भावी सरकार के लिए कैसे संभव हो सकता है जो सामाजिक, आर्थिक और राजनीतिक रूप से न्याय करने में विश्वास करती है, जब तक कि उसकी अर्थव्यवस्था एक समाजवादी अर्थव्यवस्था न हो।"

6. डॉ. अंबेडकर कट्टर हिंदुत्ववादी 'राष्ट्रवादियों' और 'देशभक्तों' से नफरत करते थे

डॉ. अंबेडकर ने 1931 में ही कहा था कि जब भी वे निचली जातियों, हाशिए पर पड़े वर्गों और दलित वर्गों के लिए समानता की मांग करेंगे, तो उन्हें सांप्रदायिक और राष्ट्र-विरोधी कहा जाएगा। उन्होंने 'राष्ट्रवादियों' और 'देशभक्तों' को स्पष्ट रूप से बताया:

"भारत एक अनोखा देश है, और इसके राष्ट्रवादी और देशभक्त एक अनोखे लोग हैं। भारत में एक देशभक्त और राष्ट्रवादी वह है जो खुली आँखों से देखता है कि उसके साथियों को पुरुषों से कमतर समझा जाता है। लेकिन उसकी मानवता विरोध में नहीं उठती। वह जानता है कि पुरुषों और महिलाओं को बिना किसी कारण के उनके मानवाधिकारों से वंचित किया जाता है। लेकिन यह उसकी नागरिक भावना को मदद करने के लिए प्रेरित नहीं करता। वह देखता है कि लोगों का एक पूरा वर्ग सार्वजनिक रोजगार से वंचित है। लेकिन यह उसके न्याय और निष्पक्ष व्यवहार की भावना को नहीं जगाता। मनुष्य और समाज को नुकसान पहुँचाने वाली सैकड़ों बुरी प्रथाओं को वह देखता है। लेकिन वे उसे घृणा से बीमार नहीं करती हैं। देशभक्त की एक ही पुकार है कि उसके और उसके वर्ग के लिए शक्ति और अधिक शक्ति। मुझे खुशी है कि मैं देशभक्तों के उस वर्ग से संबंधित नहीं हूँ। मैं उस वर्ग से संबंधित हूँ जो लोकतंत्र पर अपना रुख रखता है, और जो एकाधिकार को बहुत ही आकार और रूप में नष्ट करना चाहता है। हमारा उद्देश्य जीवन के सभी क्षेत्रों, राजनीतिक, आर्थिक और सामाजिक, में एक व्यक्ति एक मूल्य के हमारे आदर्श को व्यवहार में लाना है।"

Will Dr. Ambedkar survive if he appears now in India?

If we trust the glorification of Dr. BR Ambedkar by the RSS-BJP rulers on his birth anniversary, it will seem as if there have not been ever more loyal followers of him than them. According to PM Modi he was ‘architect of the constitution of India’ and ‘Messiha of Schedule Castes’. The UP government has announced a grand celebration of ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’ beginning with a series of programmes from morning of April 13 (2025), leading up to the main celebrations on April 14 at Lucknow which will be attended by Hindutva icon CM Adityanath. These programmes “aim to acquaint the younger generation with Dr Ambedkar’s remarkable life, visionary leadership, and his unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and social reform”.  [https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/lucknow/up-govt-to-hold-grand-ambedkar-jayanti-celebrations-across-state-9941185/]

Dr. Ambedkar is receiving full-some praise when he is not alive. When he was alive RSS and its bandwagon which included VD Savarkar led Hindu Mahasabha never missed an opportunity to denigrate him, often resorted to his effigy burning. If Dr. Ambedkar appears now when India is ruled by BJP-RSS cadres it is sure that he would be lynched or put in jail under terror laws for opposing Casteism, denigration of Sudras, women, High Caste hegemony and Hindutva.  

1.     Dr. Ambedkar supported the burning of Manusmriti

RSS wants Indian constitution to be replaced by Manusmriti or Manu Code or laws of Manu which is known for its derogatory and inhuman references to Sudras, Untouchables and women. The Constituent Assembly of India finalized the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949, RSS was not happy. Its organ, Organiser in an editorial on November 30, 1949, complained:

“But in our Constitution, there is no mention of the unique constitutional development in ancient Bharat. Manu’s Laws were written long before Lycurgus of Sparta or Solon of Persia. To this day his laws as enunciated in the Manusmriti excite the admiration of the world and elicit spontaneous obedience and conformity. But to our constitutional pundits that means nothing.”

By demanding promulgation of laws of Manu in an Independent India RSS was simply following its mentor, philosopher and guide VD Savarkar who declared that,

“Manusmriti is that scripture which is most worship-able after Vedas for our Hindu Nation and which from ancient times has become the basis of our culture-customs, thought and practice. This book for centuries has codified the spiritual and divine march of our nation. Even today the rules which are followed by the crores of Hindus in their lives and practice are based on Manusmriti. Today Manusmriti is Hindu Law.”

It is to be noted here that a copy of Manusmriti was burnt as a protest in the presence of Dr. BR Ambedkar during historic Mahad agitation on December 25, 1927. He also called for burning Manusmriti on December 25 each year.

 

2.     DR. Ambedkar held High Caste Hindus which control Hindutva politics responsible for miserable life of Hindus and hatred for Muslims

He was crystal clear that,

"[The] high caste Hindus are bad as leaders. They have a trait of character which often leads the Hindus to disaster. This trait is formed by their acquisitive instinct and aversion to share with others the good things of life. They have a monopoly of education and wealth, and with wealth and education they have captured the State. To keep this monopoly to themselves has been the ambition and goal of their life. Charged with this selfish idea of class domination, they take every move to exclude the lower classes of Hindus from wealth, education and power, the surest and the most effective being the preparation of scriptures, inculcating upon the minds of the lower classes of Hindus the teaching that their duty in life is only to serve the higher classes. In keeping this monopoly in their own hands and excluding the lower classes from any share in it, the high caste Hindus have succeeded for a long time and beyond measure…

“This attitude of. keeping education, wealth and power as a close preserve for themselves and refusing to share it, which the high caste Hindus have developed in their relation with the lower classes of Hindus, is sought to be extended by them to the Muslims. They want to exclude the Muslims from place and power, as they have done to the lower-class Hindus. This trait of the high caste Hindus is the key to the understanding of their politics."

2. Dr. Ambedkar renounced Hinduism

Ambedkar, in his historic speech in Nagpur on October 15, 1956, a day after he had embraced Buddhism, said,

“The movement to leave the Hindu religion was taken in hand by us in 1935, when a resolution was made in Yeola. Even though I was born in the Hindu religion, I will not die in the Hindu religion. This oath I made earlier; yesterday, I proved it true. I am happy; I am ecstatic! I have left hell — this is how I feel. I do not want any blind followers. Those who come into the Buddhist religion should come with an understanding; they should consciously accept that religion.”

If he tries to convert now we can imagine what terrible fate he will meet!

3.     Dr. Ambedkar fought for equal rights for women  

For RSS Hindu women are inferior in every respect. It demands promulgation of Manusmriti as constitution of India which shockingly denigrates women as we will see in the following [few out of dozens]:

a. Day and night woman must be kept in dependence by the males (of) their (families), and, if they attach themselves to sensual enjoyments, they must be kept under one’s control.

b. Her father protects (her) in childhood, her husband protects (her) in youth, and her sons protect (her) in old age; a woman is never fit for independence.

c.  Women do not care for beauty, nor is their attention fixed on age; (thinking), ‘(It is enough that) he is a man,’ they give themselves to the handsome and to the ugly.

d. Through their passion for men, through their mutable temper, through their natural heartlessness, they become disloyal towards their husbands, however carefully they may be guarded in this (world).

e. (When creating them) Manu allotted to women (a love of their) bed, (of their) seat and (of) ornament, impure desires, wrath, dishonesty, malice, and bad conduct.

f. For women no (sacramental) rite (is performed) with sacred texts, thus the law is settled; women (who are) destitute of strength and destitute of (the knowledge of) Vedic texts, (are as impure as) falsehood (itself), that is a fixed rule.

  On the contrary, Dr. Ambedkar believed in equality for women. He was clear that, "We shall see better days soon and our progress will be greatly accelerated if male education is persuaded side by side with female education…" He went on to stress that “I measure the progress of community by the degree of progress which women had achieved”. He advised Dalit women, "Never regard yourself as Untouchables, live a clean life. Dress yourselves as touchable ladies. Never mind, if your dress is full of patches, but see that it is clean. None can restrict your freedom in the choice of your garments. Attend more to the cultivation of the mind and spirit of self-Help." Liquor was a bane in Dalit families and in order remedy it he asked women “do not feed in any case your spouse and sons if they are drunkards. Send your children to schools. Education is as necessary for females as it is for males. If you know how to read and write, there would be much progress. As you are, so your children will be."

4.     Dr. Ambedkar did not subscribe to the idea of Hindu nation and decried Hindutva

Dr. Ambedkar, a keen researcher of the communal politics in pre-independence India, while underlying the affinity and camaraderie between Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League on the issue of Two-Nation Theory wrote:

“Strange it may appear, Mr. Savarkar and Mr. Jinnah instead of being opposed to each other on the one nation versus two nations issue are in complete agreement about it. Both agree, not only agree but insist that there are two nations in India—one the Muslim nation and the other Hindu nation.”

According to him, the idea of "Hindustan for Hindus...is not merely arrogant but is arrant nonsense". He was emphatic in warning that,

"If Hindu Raj does become a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country… [It] is a menace to liberty, equality and fraternity. On that account it is incompatible with democracy. Hindu Raj must be prevented at any cost."

 

5.     Dr. Ambedkar believed in Socialism

Jawaharlal Nehru introduced the Objective Resolution [OR] on December 13, 1946. Dr. Ambedkar’s turn to respond to OR came on 17 December 1946. He stated:

“If this resolution has a reality behind it and a sincerity, of which I have not the least doubt, coming as it does from the mover of the resolution [Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru], I should have expected some provision whereby it would have been possible for the state to make economic, social and political justice a reality and i should have from that point of view expected the resolution to state in most explicit terms that in order that there may be social and economic justice in the country, that there would be nationalisation of industry and nationalisation of land, i do not understand how it could be possible for any future government which believes in doing justice socially, economically and politically, unless its economy is a socialistic economy.”

6.     Dr. Ambedkar Hated Bigoted Hindutva 'Nationalists' & 'Patriots'

Dr Ambedkar as early as 1931 said that whenever he demanded equality for lower Castes, marginalized sections and Depressed classes he would be called a communalist and anti-national. He was forthright in telling the 'nationalists' & 'patriots':

"India is a peculiar country, and her nationalists and patriots are a peculiar people. A patriot and a nationalist in India is one who sees with open eyes his fellowmen treated as being less than men. But his humanity does not rise in protest. He knows that men and women for no cause are denied their human rights. But it does not prick his civic sense to helpful action. He finds whole class of people shut out from public employment. But it does not rouse his sense of justice and fair play. Hundreds of evil practices that injure man and society are perceived by him. But they do not sicken him with disgust. The patriot's one cry is power and more power for him and for his class. I am glad I do not belong to that class of patriots. I belong to that class which takes its stand on democracy, and which seeks to destroy monopoly in a very shape and form. Our aim is to realise in practice our ideal of one man one value in all walks of life, political, economic and social."

76th Republic Day of India: Hindutva Juggernaut Rolls on to Demolish Democratic-Secular Indian Republic!

Since Narender Bhai Modi, who claims to be a ‘Hindu Nationalist’ and member of RSS took charge as PM of India in 2014, the largest democracy in the world, has no respite from receiving fatal blows. Sadly, judiciary which was to function as watchdog of the Republic has completely capitulated to the Hindutva agenda. The consecration of Ram Temple by Modi performing the role of a main priest on January 22, 2024 seems to be the beginning of end of the Indian Republic. This would be clear by the perusal of an extra-ordinary resolution passed by Modi’s Cabinet which congratulated PM Modi for a new Ram Temple at Ayodhya. It stated that while “the body of the country attained independence” in 1947, the “Pran Pratishtha [putting life into the idol of Ram by PM Modi] of its soul was done on January 22, 2024”, and “everyone experienced spiritual satisfaction.” [‘Cabinet hails Modi: Country’s body got freedom in 1947, soul on Jan 22, 2024’, The Indian Express, Delhi, January 25, 2024 https://indianexpress.com/article/india/cabinet-hails- modi-countrys-body-got-freedom-in-1947-soul-on-jan-22-2024-9126442/]

Thus, freedom of India and its becoming a Republic was simply declared as physical independence but fulfillment of a majoritarian sectarian agenda under PM Modi’s supervision was declared to be the liberation of the ‘Soul’ that too Hindu!

We should not fail to understand that whatever is being done by the RSS/BJP rulers to destroy the present Indian polity is part of a well-thought strategy to convert India into a theocratic and totalitarian state as per the diktats of the Hindutva idea of India. For this reason RSS-Hindu Mahasabha opposed freedom struggle for an all-inclusive India. It has not been a hidden agenda of RSS except that we have been unaware of it to the perils of our Republic. When the Constituent Assembly of India had finalized the Constitution of India RSS was not happy. Its organ, Organizer, 4 days after this historical event, in an editorial on November 30, 1949, complained,

"But in our constitution there is no mention of the unique constitutional development in ancient Bharat. Manu’s Laws were written long before Lycurgus of Sparta or Solon of Persia. To this day his laws as enunciated in the Manusmriti excite the admiration of the world and elicit spontaneous obedience and conformity. But to our constitutional pundits that means nothing."

How loyal the RSS is to the Constitution of India can be known by the following statement of Golwalkar which is being reproduced from Bunch of Thought which is not only selection of the writings of Golwalkar but also a Bible for the RSS cadres.

"Our Constitution too is just a cumbersome and heterogeneous piecing together of various articles from various Constitutions of Western countries. It has absolutely nothing which can be called our own. Is there a single word of reference in its guiding principles as to what our national mission is and what our keynote in life is? No."

What kind of civilization the RSS wants to build by enforcing the laws of Manu, can be known by having a glimpse of the laws prescribed by Manu for the Dalits/Untouchables and women. Some of these dehumanizing and degenerate laws, which are presented here, are self- explanatory.

LAWS OF MANU CONCERNING DALITS/UNTOUCHABLES.

(1) For the sake of the prosperity of the worlds (the divine one) caused the Brahmana, the Kshatriya, the Vaisya, and the Sudra to proceed from his mouth,

his arm, his thighs and his feet.

(2) One occupation only the lord prescribed to the Sudras, to serve meekly even these (other) three castes.

(3) Once-born man (a Sudra), who insults a twice-born man with gross invective, shall have his tongue cut out; for he is of low origin.

(4) If he mentions the names and castes (jati) of the (twice-born) with contumely, an iron nail, ten fingers long, shall be thrust red-hot into his mouth.

(5) If he arrogantly teaches Brahmanas their duty, the king shall cause hot oil to be poured into his mouth and into his ears.

(6) With whatever limb a man of a low caste does hurt to (a man of the three) highest (castes), even that limb shall be cut off; that is the teaching of Manu.

(7) He who raises his hand or a stick, shall have his hand cut off; he who in anger kicks with his foot, shall have his foot cut off.

(8) A low-caste man who tries to place himself on the same seat with a man of a high caste, shall be branded on his hip and be banished, or (the king) shall cause his buttock to be gashed.

LAWS OF MANU CONCRNING WOMEN

1.     Day and night woman must be kept in dependence by the males (of) their (families), and, if they attach themselves to sensual enjoyments, they must be

kept under one‟s control.

2.     Her father protects (her) in childhood, her husband protects (her) in youth, and her sons protect (her) in old age; a woman is never fit for independence.

3.     Women must particularly be guarded against evil inclinations, however trifling (they may appear); for, if they are not guarded, they will bring sorrow on two families.

4.     No man can completely guard women by force; but they can be guarded by the employment of the (following) expedients:

5.     Let the (husband) employ his (wife) in the collection and expenditure of his wealth, in keeping (everything) clean, in (the fulfillment of) religious duties, in the preparation of his food, and in looking after the household utensils.

6.     Women do not care for beauty, nor is their attention fixed on age; (thinking), „(It is enough that) he is a man,‟ they give themselves to the handsome and to the ugly.

7.     Through their passion for men, through their mutable temper, through their natural heartlessness, they become disloyal towards their husbands, however carefully they may be guarded in this (world).

10.(When creating them) Manu allotted to women (a love of their) bed, (of their) seat and (of) ornament, impure desires, wrath, dishonesty, malice, and bad conduct.

It is to be noted here that a copy of Manusmriti was burnt as a protest in the presence of Dr. BR Ambedkar himself during historic Mahad agitation on December 25, 1927 and it was decided to commemorate this day in future as 'Manusmriti dahan divas' [Manusmriti Burnning Day].

Against Secularism

 

The RSS demands total loyalty to the Indian Nation from minorities. It is another thing that it does not feel it proper to be loyal to the constitutional-legal set up of this very Nation. The study of Prarthana (prayer) and Pratigya (oath) as practiced in the shakhas of the RSS is an example of how the Indian nationalism has been equated with Hinduism, in the same way as the Muslim League had combined Islam with nationality. Significantly, both Prarthana and Pratigya are in direct contravention to the existence of an Indian Secular State which is an important ‘Basic’ feature of the Constitution of India. It is very important to note here that those groups which have been decrying and opposing the Indian constitutional set- up have been facing the might of the Indian state in the form of bullets, gallows or jails but here is the RSS which openly rejects the legitimacy of the constitutional system of the country still is allowed to have a free run of the country.

Just imagine PM Modi and most of his ruler colleagues who took oath to uphold the integrity of a democratic and secular India were also committed to the task of creating a Hindu Rashtra as per the texts of the Prayer and Oath as essential for the RSS cadres.

RSS Prayer:

"Affectionate Motherland, I eternally bow to you/O Land of Hindus, you have reared me in comfort/O Sacred Land, the Great Creator of Good, may this body of mine be dedicated to you/I again and again bow before You/O God almighty, we the integral part of the Hindu Rashtra salute you in reverence/For Your cause have we girded up our loins/Give us Your Blessings for its accomplishment."

RSS Oath:

"Before the all-powerful God and my ancestors, I most solemnly take this oath, that I become a member of the RSS in order to achieve all

round greatness of Bharatvarsha by fostering the growth of my sacred Hindu religion, Hindu society, and Hindu culture. I shall perform the work of the Sangh honestly, disinterestedly, with my heart and soul, and I shall adhere to this goal all my life. Bharat Mata Ki Jai."

Thus they were not faithful to the Indian Nation as it existed as a legal entity but wanted to subvert it into a theocratic state like Muslim League which created Pakistan in the name of Islam.

Against Democracy

The RSS contrary to the principles of democracy has been constantly demanding India to be ruled under a totalitarian regime. Golwalkar while delivering a speech before the 1350 top level cadres of the RSS in 1940 declared,

RSS inspired by one flag, one leader and one ideology is lighting the flame of Hindutva in each and every corner of this great land.

This slogan of one flag, one leader and one ideology has directly been borrowed from the programmes of Nazi and Fascist parties of Europe.

Against Federalism

The RSS is also dead against federal structure of the constitution, again a „Basic‟ feature of the India polity. This is clear from the following communication of Golwalkar which he sent to the first session of the National Integration Council in 1961. It read,

“Today’s federal form of government not only gives birth but also nourishes the feelings of separatism, in a way refuses to recognize the fact of one nation and destroys it. It must be completely uprooted, constitution purified and unitary form of government be established.”

These have not been some stray ideas of the RSS ideologue on Indian Federalism. The Bible of the RSS, Bunch of Thoughts, has an exclusive chapter titled, „Wanted a unitary state.‟ While presenting his remedy to the federal set-up of India he writes,

“The most important and effective step will be to bury deep for good all talk of a

federal structure of our country’s Constitution, to sweep away the existence of all

‘autonomous’ or semi-autonomous ‘states’ within the one state viz., Bharat and proclaim ‘One Country, One State, One Legislature, One Executive’ with no trace of fragmentational, regional, sectarian, linguistic or other types of pride being given a scope for playing havoc with our integrated harmony. Let the Constitution be re- examined and re-drafted, so as to establish this Unitary form of Government and thus effectively disprove the mischievous propaganda indulged in by the British and so unwittingly imbibed by the present leaders, about our being just a juxtaposition of so many distinct ‘ethnic groups’ or ‘nationalities’ happening to live side by side and grouped together by the accident of geographical contiguity and one uniform supreme foreign domination.”

It is important to note that Indian Supreme Court in the SR Bommai vs Union of India 1994 case

declared federal structure, secularism socialism, social justice, unity and integrity of democratic- secular India as inviolable 'Basic Features' of the Indian Constitution; the fundamental characteristics to which RSS is totally opposed.

Thus, RSS represents the most lethal danger to the existence of Indian Republic visualized by the Constitution framers like Dr. BR Ambedkar. If our Indian Republic is to be saved, the anti-national and inhuman ideology of RSS; the Hindutva must be confronted in Parliament, judicial rooms, corridors of administration, educational institutions and outside. We should not overlook the fact that with RSS ruling India there is need of any foreign enemy to undo democratic- secular Indian Republic. There is no choice unless we decide to collude with the Hindutva gang!
